Report: What is UK’s most popular smartphone brand?

Francisco Jeronimo of IDC has revealed the report showing the most popular smartphone brands in the UK. The report also shows, how the market share has changed during last year.

The report shows, that 4.95 million units was sold in the UK, which make a 3.1 year-over-year growth.

Which is the most popular smartfone brand in the UK? There’s no surpise: it is Apple. The US company has covered almost a half od UK’s smartphone market, but it is al little less share, than a year ago.

The second one is Samsung, with over 30% market share, which is over 8% more than last year. The next producer of the “big three” is unexpectedly Nokia, with 4,3% market share. It differs UK market from other European countries. It also shows, that the first two leaders owns together over 80% od UK’s smartphone market, while for the others there is practically no room left.

The fourth place, with only 0,1% less share than Nokia, goes to Oppo. And on the fifth place, we have another surprise: Google with its Pixels. This is the first time that Google appears in this list and probably it happens thanks to the Pixel 6 models. Finally, it is worth paying attention to the shrinking market share of all other producers. It has decreased by more than half, mainly to the benefit of Samsung, whose shares have apparently increased.

So, after 2022’s Q1 it looks like the market has recovered after the pandemic and sales are slowly increasing. Will this trend be maintained in the coming quarters?
