Three UK and Vodafone consider merger

Vodafone and Three are in talks on merger to provide the large UK network together.

According to the Reuters, none of the companies has commented on the merger information yet.  Nevertheless, information about the ongoing merger calls, have been confirmed by people with direct knowledge of the matter.

Owned by Hong Kong-based CK Hutchison Holdings Ltd Three is currently the fourth carrier in the UK, while Vodafone Group Plc is the third one. The merger is supposed to lead to create the much bigger carrier, which will be able to compete more effectively with the leading two: EE and Virgin Media O2.

The details of the deal are not yet known, neither party comments on the reports. Certainly, no decisions have been made yet, and the merger is a matter of years rather than months…
