Three UK launches new social tariff

15th February 2023 By: Adam

Three UK has launched a new social tariff through its sub-brand SMARTY aimed at supporting its most vulnerable customers, as part of its ongoing response to the cost of living crisis.

At £12 a month, the plan comes with unlimited data, calls and texts, and fast 5G at no extra cost. Plus, like all SMARTY plans, it is offered as a flexible 1-month rolling plan which can be changed or cancelled at any time, giving customers complete control, simplicity and value for money with no tie in.

It is estimated that more than 4.2m households across the UK could benefit from this new tariff helping those that need it the most to stay connected.

The introduction of the new tariff follows a host of measures Three has already implemented, including:

  • Donating 1 million GB data to connect 40,000 disadvantaged people through the Good Things Foundation;
  • Zero-rating seven websites that offer financial advice so that customers can access help free of charge;
  • Relaunching the Reconnected programme which sees old devices refurbished and given to disadvantaged people with six months of unlimited connectivity on Three’s network.

Customers need to be in receipt of one of the following benefits to be eligible for this tariff:

  • Income based employment support
  • Income based job seekers
  • Income support
  • Pension credit
  • Universal credit
